I love Christmas. Who doesn't? I love the spirit of giving. People seem so much more happy, and loving at this time of year. We spent Christmas Eve with the Johnson clan. Christmas day Grandma and Grandpa Johnson came over to watch the boys open, then we went to Springville to hang with the Wall family. Good times, good memories. I am so thankful for the Birth of Christ, and that we are able to live here now, and have what we do. I love my family, and my job, and I love chilling with my family on Christmas.

Christmas Eve Nativity

Mickey and Minnie mouse came to the Johnson party this year to help us remember Grandma Great and gave all the grandkids a $2.00 bill like she used to.

Setting: Sunday afternoon, family gethered together for post baby blessing (which was wonderful) lunch. Amy inside helping prepare the lunch. Shad outside with many nieces and nephews playing.
Shad is pulling the rope swing with Kelton in it. Kelton goes really really high. Sam runs in front of Kelton's swinging rope swing. BANG
"aunt Amy! Sam is bleeding!"
"ok"
"no, Amy, he's bleeding bad!"

Sam ran in front of the swing, and Shad didn't have time to react, nor did Kelton. the swing/Kelton hit Sam, and he went flying onto the concrete. I am so thankful for all the quick help we received by both family and medical staff.
Sam was put into unconscious sedation, and when he was coming out, we looked like:

A long emotional day, but all is well at the Johnson's home. My boys sure love each other.

Life skills class.... At school they are teaching life skills throughout the year. Kelton brought home flour, yeast, and the directions on how to make a loaf of bread. He followed the directions meticulously, he even remeasured the teaspoon of salt more than once because some of it fell off the spoon when he lifted it off the counter.
I must say, I am impressed. It was quite tasty. He made 2 loaves, then sent me to the store to get the exact same ingredients to make more. He has now made 6, and we love it!

Couple weeks

I wish I could get darn videos to upload. I took about 17 of them at Sam's Fall program, and only 2 are worth watching the whole way. I have tried and tried, and I can't do it!
I went on a fieldtrip with Sam the day Gabrielle was born, and was only at Hee Haws for about 15 minutes, but got a couple pics of Sam there.
I still haven't posted about my new niece and her exciting entrance into the world. I am finally feeling close to "normal" after the office move, the home move, and software upgrade etc.
The boys had a blast trick or treating this year. Sam was batman, and I could hardly see him, but could hear his feet running to each house. It was awesome. I love our new neighborhood and my new neighbors are awesome.
There is a picture of someone not in our family below, but I still chuckle when I think of him.

From Lynden Washington, to Lindon Utah... I have to agree with Pheobe Judson that the y and e do make it look pretty in the spelling. I find it funny that I lived so many years growing up in Lynden, and will spend many years growing older in Lindon. Here it is! Our new home. We love it. I didn't get a picture of Kelton's room or the furnace room. I took these pictures a week or 2 ago, so they don't have all the things up yet (as if I have them up yet anyway). There is still a lot to put up/decorate etc. but we will be here until we can't go up and down the stairs anymore (oooo unless we get one of those chairs that take you up them).. so we have time.

This first pictures is of a Jackson Emery jersey we got for him. He LOVES him. At the Whitley reunion 2 days later, he got it signed by the one and only. Talk about total excitement.

Over a month ago, my boy turned 12. TWELVE i tell you. How is this possible? How can he be 1 year from being a "teenager", 4 years from driving, 6 years from graduating, and 7 years from going on a mission? What gives? He took some friends to Seven Peaks, hence no pictures besides the couple I took of him and his cake...and they are blurry. Nonetheless, here they are.

4th of July

Matt man and his familia came for almost a whole week for the 4th. Although I didn't get to hang with them as much as I planned (or should have-torn in many directions) it was fun seeing them.
Saturday night we BBQ'd at the Ben Wall's house, then went to the Drury's for some fireworks.
Monday morning the boys and I drove down to Provo for the Freedom Festival Parade. I love parades. Love. Love. Love them. They make me excited, they make me proud. They make me happy. I love that all the princesses wave at me, so therefore, I take many pictures of them.
BBQ with the Johnson's with my favorite pasta and shrimp salad. Legalizing the aerials was such an added "funness" to the 4th. I really think that Thanksgiving and the 4th of July are my favorite holidays. Happy 4th everyone... only 2 weeks. late.

I wish I was going to be writing about us taking first in state...However, things went terribly wrong. We started with pool play 4 teams in 4 pools. The top 2 move on to bracket play. First game was a win. Second game we were ahead 8-2 in the last inning. The coach decided to let the kids that don't get much play time, play, and those that liked different positions, try them. Poor Kelton was pitching. He walked 2, struck out 2, then a couple kids got hits off of him, the team had 3 errors, the coach moved Kelton to 2nd (which he doesn't play), and Kelton ended up getting the 3rd out of the inning...however, we LOST 9-8. This was a huge upset, both for the parents watching, the kids, and a surprise for the league. The next day, we had a game with the last team in the pool. This team, lost to both the teams that we played the day before. It came down to the team we beat must lose for us to move on. The team that beat us used their worst pitcher (I swear knowing if they won or lost they would go on-if they lost we would for sure be out, since we would both have 1 loss and they beat us.) They were blown out by the team we won the first night....hence we were out. SAD SAD SAD. So here are some pictures of Kelton getting his trophy from league. He tried out for a "Super League" team a couple weeks ago and made it. So fall baseball, here we come!

Sam had a little run in with "ben and britnuts" playhouse. I don't know for sure what happened, I just know that he was playing on the playgym, and he fell by the table. He only cried for a couple minutes, then wanted to go back and play.

After being rained out for 5 games strait, we were finally able to watch some ball this last week.
Sam has been falling asleep in the most random places. This kid normally goes to bed around 10:30 or 11 and gets up around 7, no naps during the day (except maybe every 3 days in the car). So for him to fall asleep on the floor, at the table, and like the picture above it's quite funny.
Gr. and Gr. Wall along with the Eldredge duo, took Kelton for a hike to the Y. He loved it.

Sam has no problem making friends. As long as those said friends don't care if he talks a lot, but makes little sense. He found one that didn't care a whit, and played for about a half hour while we waited for Kelton's game to start. I tried to get some pics of them, but as you can see, Sam was too busy being as he puts it "silly sam".

Good food, great company on Easter at the Johson's. We ate, colored eggs, and did a huge egg hunt. It was awesome seeing the adults get into it. Shad even colored a carrot, ate a part of it, then Shonte used it as a stamp. The tote in the picture above is just some of the supplies Grandma has to decorate the eggs. Thanks so much Grandma and Grandpa Johnson! Spent Monday afternoon at mom's-can't miss her stuffing..

Opening day was Saturday. Pretty cold, even some slow flakes were falling, but that didn't stop Kelton from hi fiving DALE MURPHY, hitting a solid double (turning into a home run with overthrows), and a single. He pitched an inning and was great. Dale Murphy lives in Alpine now, someone knows him obviously since he was there to give a little inspiration to the players. Shad waited in line and got a ball signed for Kelton. Great start to the year. Oh and that- and we killed the Giants (this is a older league so it's not the same team that he was on last year) 10-0.

Sometimes I surprise myself at how unlucky I am. I know I have man feet/toes, therefore I should know to watch where they are, how they are covered etc. Who would have thought that getting soap for the dishwasher would turn into this??

Jackson Emerey

Last Thursday we got to meet Jackson Emery of the BYU cougars. Thanks to Grandpa Wall and his mentoring program. Kelton was in heaven. I remember when I was young and was so excited to meet some of the Huskies. It was like meeting a famous person. That is exactly how Kelton saw it. His eyes were huge, while he was trying to mask his smile. Jackson talked to us about how when he was younger he played AAU and was doing really well. His family moved to from Salt Lake County to Utah county and when he tried out for the teams he was turned down. He was bummed, but still kept practicing because he loved it so much. After the 2nd year trying out, he made the B team. Still not the best, but at least got to play. Come high school he got to be on Varsity, but sat the bench most of his sophomore year. When the season ended he told his coach he was going to play guard the next year and would be his number one. The coach then told him what he needed to work on. He practiced every day for 1 to 3 hours all summer long. That year he ended up playing and being named one of the players on the all state team. The coach then said if you just do this and do this, you can be Mr. Basketball next year. So, again, he went and practiced everyday. At the beginning of the season he had an injury, but that didn't stop him from practicing and working hard at getting better. He was Mr. Basketball for the state of Utah that year. His point was to keep practicing, work hard for your goals, he could have stopped when he was turned down, but he loved it and knew he could do it.
Next, he said he planted an orange tree when he was young. He gave it water, sun, and love. The tree wouldn't grow. He was really upset because he had put everything into that he knew the seed needed, yet the tree just wouldn't sprout. He learned that orange trees just don't grow in Utah. He likened this to everyone. Everyone has a seed in them, you need to find your seed and make it grow. He can't sing, therefore that seed will never grow into something great,he will sing when he needs to, but no matter how much he works at singing, he will never be great at it and that's ok. Find your seed and make it grow.
He was a great speaker. It was awesome seeing him talk to dad asking how long he needed to talk for, then went up and just let the words flow. He likened much to
the mentors and how they can help and support you like his coaches did. I was totally impressed. Plus he is pretty dang good to look at... haha (yeah, he's married, but whatever-so is Keith Urban)
Just when he was getting ready to leave, Dad pulled one of his silly jokes.
"everyone, before Mr Emery leaves, make sure you have all your things. Mike Adams, make sure you have your laptop. Do you know why?"
"why, because he is the king of steals! He led the MWC in steals this year, and is the all time BYU leader of steals."
Jackson, "but i only steal on the basketball court. hahaha"
Dad is saying this in the picture where he is standing by him with the t-shirt over Jackson's shoulder.
On the way home Kelton was wondering "what happens when he goes to the store since he is so famous. It probably takes him forever to do anything because of all the crowds of people and stuff". Probably. Probably son.

I sit working, Shad watching storage wars, Kelton reading, Sam... quiet in my room with the door closed. I decide enough working for the day. I walk into kitchen, find cracker crumbs all over the floor. Sam found the crackers that were opened by Kelton an our or two ago for his chicken noodle (he loooooves the progressive chicken noodle fyi). I walk into my bedroom to find Sam to help me pick up said crackers and find him licking the container seasoning salt. I must tangent here. My father taught me the treat of a little seasonal. I used to love it when we had BBQ just so I can have a little salt on my hand to lick off. I wouldn't get into the cupboard to lick it, but waited until the BBQ was going. Thanks dad, I still love it. Anyhow, I passed this love onto Kelton, who then passed it onto Sam. Tradition maybe? I have locks on the cupboard that hold the salt because Sam loves to climb on the counters and get into the medicine cabinet, get his own cup, get into the seasonal etc. I haven't been so good at locking the cabinet lately. Now back to the bedroom. As I walk in I hear, "sorry mom, sorry" and he jumps up with the salt (still in his mouth) and runs to the kitchen. I grab the dustbuster, Sam picks up the big pieces of crackers while I dustbust. Then onto the bedroom to try to get most of the seasonal off the sheets. I want to just change them, but then salt will get all over the floor. I just purchased new higher count sheets, and shaved my legs this morning, so I really wanted to go to sleep in this heaven. You know new sheets (cleaned this afternoon), soft legs.. AHHHH I can just feel it. Too bad I will have to wait another day.
I return to the laundry room to put away the dust buster, when the light bulb goes out. Ok, I will change the light. No problem. Since I am changing this one, might as well change the one outside that went out last week. Go outside in the wind, bare foot with the chair to change the light bulb. I can't get the darn thing to stay screwed on. After about 5 minutes of attempting, I get off the chair thinking I would go get a stool to put on the chair ( I have done this before, with no problems-thankyouverymuch). As I am getting down-wobble wobble wobble. The light fixture falls, hits the chair, my leg, the the gound. Busted. They are only 5 bucks at the store, but really? It's 10o'clock at night, and all I wanted to do was sit and read my book for book group Thursday night (which I am only on page 167 of 425) after I finished folding a load of clothes. It's now 10:27 and I never even folded the clothes. Now off to get the boys in bed.
I know I have a lot of parenthesis here. Whatever. Right now I don't care.

I haven't had a lot of excitement lately, hence, no posts.
Updates
Kelton finished up basketball. It is great seeing him improve every year. He is really "into" going to the rec center every other day to practice shooting hoops. He is starting a short indoor soccer league this week playing 3 on 3. I am excited to see him play again. This is one sport, I have never been super fond of, but love watching him. The draft for baseball was on Saturday, and he was drafted to the A's. The coach called last night and told us when he said Kelton's name, there were a few other coaches that made a groan (woohooo!). The team tied for first in league last year, and got 4th in state. There are a lot of returning 6th graders, so we'll see how much playing time he gets this year. Hopefully it will be a great year for learning different positions, and getting some time on the mound. Because of his new team, I had to buy these last night....
Plus I wanted to reminisce my high school years. hahaha
Shad
Is happy to have the bathroom done. Now if I can get him to put a hole in the sofa table I bought in January to hide the cords... He has been home the last 2 weekends, which we have enjoyed. Our Anniversary is next week, so I think he plans on being home a 3rd! This may be a record. He taught Kelton how to load his own bullets for hunting season. He has spent many hours playing ball with both boys, and some time relaxing.
Me
nothing really. My eyes are fantastic. I am totally bummed the Cougars had a bad last game. It would be one thing to lose playing well, but another barely losing plaing awful. It makes my chest hurt thinking about it.
Sam.
He is just so funny. Whilst walking down the stairs to get in the car, he only hit one step and plummeted into my "garden" (that's what he calls it-really it's just a bush). He scraped his stomach up pretty good, but only cried for a nano second. Sometimes I wonder if this kid doesn't feel pain. He is the best eater ever. I love that he will eat anything. He is better at working the ipad than the rest of us are. I downloaded a couple learning games, in hopes he will actually want to count to 20. I am amazed every day how much he brightens our family.

The Bathroom is DONE

A project I didn't want to do. A project that needed to be done to get our house on the market again and feel good about it. We gutted the whole room, including a 400 lb tub (literally), the floor, the drywall, the vanity, the toilet. Well, the whole thing. Derr. It came with 4 cold sores, a week off of work for Shad, about 63 trips to Home Depot and Lowes, another 3 day weekend for Shad...And here we are! It is lovely to take a shower in our new bathroom. Now for carpet in the living room, and the house is back on the market. WOOT WOOT

PRK

As you all know, I had PRK a last month, courtesy of Dr. White for my 10 year anniversary working for him. I think I am seeing almost 20/20 now (bw hasn't checked in a couple weeks, but it feels like it). The "recovery" was a lot worse than I was anticipating. I figured since I wasn't in pain and could see pretty well the few days, I would be good to go. WRONG. I wasn't able to get much work at all done for almost 2 weeks. It was like looking through wax paper on day 3-5 and that drove me crazy. My vision was about 20/70 week 1, 20/100 on week 2, then 20/70 week 3. This isn't the "norm", but not uncommon either. I think I tried to work a little more than I should have in the beginning. When your boss pays for a surgery, and you are the biller. You know that there needs to be money coming in to pay said bill, and how can money come in when you aren't billing or posting checks. Anyway, bla bla bla- I can't spit the words our right now. SO, just watch this. I had it done at Hoopes Vision The first is marking the eye, then filling the ring with rubbing alcohol to soften the tissue. Then a "hoe" scrapes off the top layer of cells. After that you will see them clean it off, then laser. You can see the flying spot laser correcting when it gets dark. The laser they used was one that corrects higher order abberations, so each part of my eye is getting treated differently. PRK uses the same laser, you just don't have a flap made like with Lasik. When you see Lasik advertised at 499 an eye, they are using an old laser that is normally a broad beam that only corrects one way all over the cornea. Please for the love, don't ever go to those places. You will regret it. For shizzle.

and just kidding. i have tried about 17 times to load the video, but alas, it won't..

Shellee got married to awesome Daniel on Saturday. It was a glorious day. She was a beautiful bride. I got 163 pictures on my camera, and can only upload so many and blogger... As a former Sunbeam teacher, I really feel for Sam's new teachers. As we all know, he acts like he doesn't understand a word you are saying when he doesn't want to listen. He won't respond when asked a question. He is T-r-o-u-b-l-e. However, on a the good side, he does sit quietly in class and he loves to go. This last week he told me Claire pushed him in his tummy. I asked what he did and he said "Claire has prett dress. Claire a princess". Last night I asked him if he was excited to go, and he said. "Claire". Yes, Claire will be there... Then a smile from Sam.

AND HELLO

This has been a long time in coming. We needed a new truck that we could all fit into to go camping, 4-wheeling etc. Shad has researched and looked and researched some more. He had a couple different models picked out,then completely changed his mind the other day. I got him everything on his list (except the gun) ...then he changed his mind back. Now do I return the goods or let him keep them? I say let him keep them, but if I find out this was a scam to get the truck and the whol Cabelas warehouse, he is in big trouble. Probably as big of trouble as I got in when the bed was torn down. We are really excited and grateful we were able to do this. Can't wait to take it somewhere.

This year Kelton put up all the decorations by himself. It's not like I didn't want to, but I was the fixer/gluer of broken ornaments. I was going to get new decor this year, but he is not one for change and since it's been up (friday), Sam has taken off every single one he can reach...so probably good we didn't get anything new.

on a side note, sam can burp on command. this has been an ongoing thing for quite some time, but kelton didn't realize he was doing it on purpose. so next time you see my youngest child go ahead and ask...you shall receive.

Sometime this past year, I don't recall when, I started receiving a local Seniors Magazine. It's actually a subscription! Someone paid for it. I thought that it was an accident at first and thought the senior who signed up for it would eventually call in and it would get cleared up. However, it has not. It is still coming regularly. There are some articles that I do find interesting. Subsequently, I have been receiving junk mail for miracle ear. I am sure this is something everyone gets, so I disregard them. The other day however, I got to wondering if there isn't someone behind all of this. I received this in the mail. Addressed to none other than Amy Johnson...

I know! There are so many great things about this place. Three home cooked meals daily, housekeeping and personal laundry service! Private rooms including private bathrooms! Fall prevention programs (I could totally use this). Assistance at meal time (does this mean I don't even need to lift my own spoon to my mouth?) While there are a ton of positives about this, why, oh why am I getting it? Shad is older than me, and did he get it? NO. All I can think of is there must be another Amy Johnson nearing or in her senior years, that maybe has a problem with falling, walking, hearing, eating, or bathing. I don't know. OR someone thinks they are pretty funny.

I do have a couple things going on in my everyday life. Sam poops on the floor and tells me it's chocolate. He puts his buzz lightyear in the freezer because he's too hot. He tries to drink straight from the milk jug in the fridge. I work, take Kelton to and from school-football etc. I am a very lucky lady to have what I do and the family I have. I don't have many exciting things in my life, so the other day when I saw the mailman, and all he had was 1 envelope for me, I was a little surprised. I do most things online, but I will usually get the junk mail, work mail, the occasional bill etc. So when he just had 1 thing it should have been an sign. A sign that my life might get a little exciting. I opened the perfect handwriting envelope and there to my amazement was a plethora of coupons! A friend and former co-worker, we shall call "Amanda", purchased a happenings book, went through all the coupons and picked out the ones she knew she wouldn't use, (and the ones she will-then put those in order of location)and sent them to me. I know this may seem a little trivial to you all, but honestly, this totally made my day. The thought and consideration it took for her to think of me, and mail them almost made me cry (if I was a crier I would have). I just wanted to let you all know how awesome "Amanda" is, and how she made my day a little more less monotonous. Thank you and the end.

Shell and Dave took Kelton and me to Lagoon on Friday. They actually got the tickets for Kelton's birthday in July, but we just now had the time to go. We didn't say anything to Kelton-so Friday after school we told him to get some pants on and grab a sweatshirt. About half way there, we couldn't contain our OWN excitement and broke down and told him. For all of you that know my son, you know that he DOES NOT do rides. He has always been a bit "cautious". When we got there, his hands were sweaty, his face pasty and his conversation none. We didn't give him a choice and started with the Colossus. He didn't like it too much, but was proud he made it. By the end of the night we had ridden the spider three times, the new Wicked twice,the stupid mouse trap five times, and all the other rides that were for "big people". It was so much fun. He has been talking non-stop since. Thanks Shell and Dave!

Shad didn't get his bear, but we had a great time. We hung out, ate, played in the water, played with the kitchen (thanks Thompson's), sang, and planted trees (thanks Drury's!) The buffalo is the one and only buffalo up on the mountain and we were lucky enough to have it walk right through our camp.....

Soccer season

Another year of soccer has begun! This year we have a full size field and only 5 teams in the league-so it's more competitive. I have noticed Kelton needs to be juiced up before these games as he plays forward the whole time. Good rest, plenty of fluids etc. If per-se he wakes up in the middle of the night (2:30ish) and requests something to help him get to sleep, he probably shouldn't be given a whole melatonin from his mom. This would result in a "I need to walk everywhere I go" game at 9 am. Other than one slower game this year, Kelton is showing us once again what a little athlete he is.

What do you get with an almost 3 year old who (is potty trained-but not poop trained) refuses to keep his pants on? Then this said almost 3 year old, who refuses to keep his pants on, goes outside with his black boots and wants to hit off the tee? I find it hilarious that he won't use the ball he just hit unless he hits the tee.

Sam has been 95% dry for the last 2 weeks! He still hasn't had a "bowel movement" in the potty, but still!
I told him he had to sit and go pee before we left to go to grandma's house...he sat for a good 5 minutes, got up and said,

"mom, a peepee broken! peepee broken!" as he looked down at himself and pulled up his pullups.
Can't make a kid go when it's broken for crying out loud.

The Giants had 2 team photographers this year, keeping our teams website up to date. On Tuesday night we had a BBQ where they gave each player a poster of themselves along with a disc of their pictures. I had to post a few since they are so much better than what I take.

State Tournament

Wow! Baseball has been a blast this year! We won the first 2 in the state tournament, then lost the next 2. We made a good run for it. Totally bummed the season is over. Kelton has asked for a new "nice" glove for his birthday next week, and maybe just maybe his wish will be granted. Baseball has always been my favorite, so having Kelton love it the way he does is (in Tommy boy voice)awesome!

So long little pup. You have been a great companion to Shad for 21 years. You have been there when he took his drivers test, you were there for the wreck on the way home. You were there before the drivers test on trips to Yellowstone with the family, you have been there for all those fun nights out with buddies in high school. You were a faithful truck all those years doing drywall. You were there when I met Shad, then you didn't pass safety 6 years ago and have been living amongst the trees in our backyard. Strawberry Days

Strawberry Days has already come and gone this year. We started with the parade with Grandma J., Carter, and Olivia. Olivia was digging the music, Kelton was chillin in the the grass (with red shorts-orange giants jersey, and his orange baseball socks all the way to his knees), and of course they were all into the candy. At one point Sam went running out into the street to get some candy, and didn't return. He stood there, for the next 2 parade entries before I had to go pull him back to the sidelines. The carnival was a blast as well. Sam was all about flying the "hareplanes", riding the "otorcycles", and driving the "rucks". I had to hold the gates closed while waiting in line-he didn't quite get the wait your turn. At one point while I was holding a gate closed, he tried to crawl under it. Most of the rides he would ride, get off, then climb right into another vehicle. haha. Good times. Kelton was busy with the "older" kids. Thanks to Kevin for the wristbands. It's nice to be able to go there without stressing about how much we spend on the rides.

Camping/Bear Hunting

So far this season has been great! The last couple of games have been an absolute blast. Kelton has been able to control his nerves a bit more and show what he's made of. He's had some great catches, and some even better hits! Woohoo!

This is Sam's little buddy at the games. When I tell him we are going to go watch Kelton's game he says "a grandma, tampa? dora? (her name is not even close to that, I think it's Emmy), a dave? a shell? a fun?"

I slept in a real bed last night

We bought this home almost 9 years ago. It has been almost 9 years since I have slept in a bed on the floor-well a bed on a frame on the floor. I am not counting the nights in hotels (which honestly are very very few and far between), or a night at mom and dads. We are officially done with our room! We all remember the post where I tore the dang princess bed down.... It has not been an easy going couple months, but I can say now that Shad even thinks it was worth it. I am amazed at how much he can do.

I have been absent lately. I am sorry. Breakdown
1. While watching Monsters Inc. with Sam, my phone rings-it rings again-and again. I decide to get my lazy bum off of the bed and see what is so dang important. Seems the secondary water had been turned on by the city, and one of our spickets was left on by my dear husband. My neighbor saw this and turned it off, but was calling to make sure we didn't have water downstairs. We did. We had a basement from one corner to the next full of standing water. Weird thing was, I didn't hear the water on-and had only been home maybe 45 minutes and it wasn't on when I returned. Thus the weekend began. After sucking approximately 200 gallons of water, replacing the carpet, and repainting, it is all fixed now.

2. Shad decided to kill off our ground cover and replace it with something different. Hence, a weekend of deciding what to get and planting it. Looks fantastic.

3. Whilst letting Sam be naked to try the potty training again (he was doing it off an on for a while, but decided to stop) he peed his whole night pee on the counter in the laundry room, with a little turd to boot. Put a pull up on... 5 minutes later, we have a soft bowel movement all over the floor, the rug, his legs, my arms.

4. Finished the "closet" in our room-repainted the whole thing, and will be doing carpet hopefully this weekend.

Kelton was the only returning player from the Yankees, so he was re-drafted this year and was chosen by the Giants (they took 1st in state last year!). We have had a couple practice games, and a ton of practices. His coach is awesome. We all have rules to follow according to coach Mat. This is directly from the 3 page letter we received at the mandatory parents meeting. "please cheer for all players including your child, but refrain from yelling at them. During games, please realize I will be instructing them , so please don't compete with me for their attention. Be encouraging, but don't yell 'instructions', that's my job. I'm open to discussing any issues, but would prefer that players, not parents, raise issues about playing time, because a player learning how to ask a coach about playing time learns a great life lesson." We also have 8 expectations of the parents.... including stay out of the dugout, if you are experiencing a problem with me other than playing time, i want to know right away, but not during a game...
Opening day Kelton hit 2 for 2 (both home runs--not on errors). We were so proud. He was so proud. He is playing first base and pitching. I can't wait to eat sunflower seeds and sit in the sun and watch ball. Actually, strike that, chase Sam, whilst eating sunflower seeds, and watching ball.

Biking in Yellowstone

My father in law is an avid skiier and biker. I am not. My son Kelton is really really getting into it. For the last several years Grandpa has asked us to go biking in Yellowstone. I know it would be fun seeing the animals and hanging out with family, but the idea of driving that far to bike miles and miles, just didn't seem like my cup of diet cherry pepsi. Last year and this year Kelton has gone with him skiing quite a few times, including Yellowstone. I knew I would end up needing to go at some point, but hoping this "some point" would be later. There really was no way around it this time. I worked a bit extra to get caught up with work things, and packed our bags. I was actually getting excited the few days leading up to going, excited to get away and not have a computer staring at me for a few days.
We left Friday after work and drove the 6 hours, all the while completely enjoying myself and the company I had in the car. Shad and Grandpa left an hour or so after us, but caught up with us in the metropolis of Idaho Falls. Sam was a total trooper the whole way. Not a peep out of the kid. We got in about midnight, unpacked and got into bed. Too bad Sam was too round up to fall asleep until around 2:30. We had a schedule of events and the day was to start at 7 am. We got up, ate a great breakfast, got our gear all ready and headed out. The ride was surprisingly easy. I totally thought that I would be sweating like crazy and dying to go back after mile 2...We made it 35 miles! No biggie. Too bad my seat was tilted a bit up, so I did have a sore crotch for a day, but really it wasn't so bad. We saw tons of wildlife and had a blast. Sam enjoyed it as well. He was pulled behind "tampa" (trying to say grandpa-I really wanted to just call him playtex, since it's close enough..). Kelton had a wreck about 14 miles in, but with a little tp and tape, he was able to pull through as well. The afternoon was filled with swimming, hot tub, pizza and just chilling out at the hotel.
Sunday morning we went and saw the a place where they keep a couple wolf packs and some bears that have been injured. We got to see a live show, and some bears up real close. It is off season there right now so we were able to talk to the people who work there and learn more about the animals. Kelton was in Heaven. Sam was trying to find every mud puddle he could.
We headed home after lunch, with another relaxing ride home. I had a blast! I am looking forward to doing it again next year, and maybe even do a little skiing next time too.

Easter with the Wall family

We had another great Easter party at the Wall home on Easter. We had time to chat at the dinner table about how delicious beans are, learned that mustard and ketchup with ham is actually pretty good, and that my dad was the spoiled child growing up.

After dinner we had a Easter egg hunt for the small ones. Sam could care less about the eggs, he was more into the car. Addie and Gavin were doing awesome, until Gavin discovered the eggs were full of candy.

My mom had had a gold and silver egg filled for Kelton to find. Shad the eggs so well it took Kelton a good half hour to find them.

My aunt and uncle brought a fantastic dessert-then we called it a night.

It was our 12 year anniversary on Easter, so it was also nice to spend some family time together.

I am so blessed to have the family I do. I am thankful for Christ and the pain he suffered for me. I have done some pretty crappy things, and because of him I can return to our Father in Heaven.

Yellowstone and Rocket Derby

Grandma and Grandpa Johnson took Kelton and the cousins to Yellowstone last weekend. They spent time skiing and swimming at the hotel. Kelton looks forward to this trip every year. He has gone skiing a few times with grandpa this year and is really enjoying it. Hopefully next year Sam and I can tag along too!

The pinewood derby has now become the rocket derby. I don't know if this is happening everywhere, or just around here. It was a good change. Last year, Kelton took 6th out of 6 in every race. This year it was his year. He worked on it all by himself, including the sanding and painting. Shad helped with the gluing, and Grandpa Johnson helped get the rubber bands (with a little oil or something) and other parts assembled. He took 3rd overall (but I think his was way faster than the 1st and 2nd...) Thanks to Grandparents, Gavin, and Addie who came to watch (race 3 times in 2 hours)event.

the bed part 2

Yes, we are selling our home, we have had it listed now for a couple months. We are hoping to get into a little bigger place on a road not quite as busy. We aren't in a hurry to sell it which is good since right now isn't a great time to be selling.

Our bed is (was) built up about 5 feet. The stairwell ceiling is underneath of it. A bed at one time I could imagine being a princess in..after about 2 weeks, I have tried to convince Shad to tear it down. We are now 8 years into being in this house, and I have asked Shad at least 100 times (probably a lot more), to tear it down. I have had "visions" of what I could do with the space. I would tease and threaten to do it while he was on one of his trips, but never had the guts to do it. His reasoning would always be "it's good oak", "it would be a pain in the a- to do anything with it", "it's fine".
So-last Friday, I tore it down. I started with just wanting to see exactly how far the stairwell really goes. After about 2 hours of carefully dismantling the princess bed I decided-what the heck. He is already going to be mad, might as well finish.... Bad idea Amy, bad idea.
I won't go inot details about when Shad got home from work that night. (the people who wanted to co me see the house didn't show-but we had a family come on Saturday to look). I just want to say, my vision of what could have been, can not be. I thought I knew Shad mad, but I underestimated that man. He is ok with me now and after much sitting and staring at our torn up room- it will work out. We will have a closet and shelves in place of the princess bed. I am not allowed to touch anything with it, I just sit and watch him and run and get whatever he needs at the store. Doesn't that just sound fun. In a couple weeks I will have a normal person bed on the floor. (right now it's a mattress on the floor)

10 year old boys

I have been bugging Kelton about girls forever. It's not that I want him to have a "girlfriend", it's because I want to know how a 10 year old boy thinks. I remember starting my boy craziness at around 11. I was aware of them before then, but I didn't really care a whole lot about them or what they were doing before that. I wondered if they were the same way. Do they think about girls like girls think about boys?
Do you remember going on field trips in school? Am I the only one that wasn't so much excited for "where" we were going and what we were going to see (and the full size candy bar mom put in our lunch). I was more excited that we were able to basically have recess all day long. See the boys all day long. Giggle about them, walk by them. Maybe they will sit a row or 2 in front of me or behind me. Now that Kelton is getting to that age, I wonder and I pry. He is a vault. I am sure he has to think someone is cute, but he won't budge. Monday he brought home a field trip permission slip. He has been "getting ready" for this all week. The whole 4th grade is heading down to Goshen to look at birds and be part of the Great American Bird Count. He has been on the computer compiling a list of Utah birds, making sure his binocs are going to work ok, asking me nonstop to get a camera (bought on Wednesday which wasn't a day too soon), and finally this morning asking me about 25 times what he should wear. Not what to wear because he wants to look good for the girls, he wants to make sure he has plenty of pockets for all the things he needs to take with him. He is actually excited about what they are doing, not who is going. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around a 10 year old boy. I know that is a bit young to be concerned about the girls, but for crying out loud. He is completely focused on the actual bird viewing.

Moving on.

After school yesterday:
"Mom, can I have that juice container that's empty?"
Thinking it's for another "collection" of sorts since we have probably 300 rocks,100 feathers, numerous fossils, and now crystals growing in almost every windowsill available. "Yes, but what do you want it for?"
"A Valentine box"
"You're supposed to decorate one for school tomorrow? I bet the girls have been decorating theirs for a week now."
"Yeah, they have been."
Fast forward to 8:30. The container is still on the stove.
"Kelton are you going to decorate it at all?"
"I cleaned it out. That's all I was going to do. Why do I need anything else? They are only for Valentines."
I am not a girlie girl by any means, but come on! You should at least decorate a box, or container right? Normally this is an "art" project at school, so the thought of making one didn't even enter my mind. Luckily I have some white spray paint and some red paper. I didn't want to go too overboard, you know, it's not like "Valentines day is a big deal you know mom".

I think I could honestly sit and just laugh all day long at Sam, then Sam and Kelton playing together. I don't want to imagine what my life would be like without them. Here are a few pics from last week. I know, I am boring, but really would you rather hear me talk, or see pics?

this was hilarious. he kept almost falling down looking through my glasses. this was at 6:30....nice. we tried waking him up at 7:30, but he just wouldn't. ended up being up from 2-4, but thank goodness for dvr awesome aunt shell, addie, gavin, and sam kelton's game a week ago sat. he wasn't feeling well, but of course wouldn't admit it to me until the game was over. this was the best picture i could get of him.

update on my toothbrush

you know after you brush your teeth (twice a day except for my brother matt man who does it a million) and your teeth are all smooth and it feels oh so good. well this toothbrush is better. it's like a million times better. my teeth are all slimy like when you first get your braces off (erica-the most recent family member knows the feeling)? they are totally slimy and slippery. it is so weird the difference a good, expensive brush and a not expensive toothbrush. i am sure it would still get smooth slimy teeth if i stood and timed myself better, however i am sold on the rest of the family getting this new oral-b. sorry crest battery brushes, you were just out done by the oral-b triumph 9200.

in other news, i pulled my hair back tonight, not like any other night...it looks like my cool sisters hair would when she pulls it back, except for now her hair is longer, but if she had shorter hair like mine it would look like this. these pictures don't do it justice. i took 23 (yes, michelle i did a tilt to your best side, down a little, to the side a little and smiled with my eyes-still can't do it) but anyway, i don't want to go to bed and ruin the good pull back.

Basketball

Kelton decided to try basketball this year. We signed him up for Jr. Jazz and it started last week. Saturday was the first game and he did rather well. He is such a little hustler, I am looking forward to many many more games. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Wall, Grandma and Grandpa Johnson, Shell, Dave, Lucy, Addie, and Gavin for coming!

Sam has been using the potty off and on for the last couple weeks. I'm not pushing it since it really isn't a big deal for us either way right now. However, the last 3 days have been interesting....
pee in diaper
a boof mom a boof(bath)
get in bath
yuck mom yuck
uphi (a poty) (peed in the bath)
get out
empty tub
fill tub (about 4 inches)
get in again
get out in 5 minutes.
poop in pull up
get in bath
yuck mom yuck

this goes on and on and on ALL DAY LONG-every time he wets his pull up
So, maybe peeing in the poty will be a little more of a priority since when he does that he doesn't request a boof every time.

Christmas morning. Kelton was awesome and didn't get up until 7. Santa came! What a fun day we had. We had family come visit and relaxed all day. I am so grateful for the family I have and so don't deserve. Sam's "car"

Anything is a hat for Sam. Toilet seat, cars, trucks, real hats...and today he came in the living room like this....

He didn't say a word. He just came in with his shopping cart like it was a normal thing to do.

Last night I came home at 9:30 to this.I know it's not a hat, but I thought it was pretty funny.

The boys and I went to Temple Square last night and saw some lights, and some frozen air....seriously. You could see the crystals in the air we were breathing. Fun times though.
