The Dr. said on Wednesday that Sam can have fruits and vegies now so we have had fun the last few days. He said to stay with the same fruit or vegie for 4-5 days before switching to something new and to only give him a tablespoon or two at a time. We started with pears and he absolutely attacked the spoon. I was surprised at how well he kept it in his mouth. After I gave him about half the container I put everything away and got him out of the highchair, he started screaming bloody murder. I made him a bottle and he wouldn't have anything to do with it for a good 20 min. I think he was hoping for some more pears. Today we tried the peas. As most babies are, he hated them. He even gagged. Shad said he is already like his mother, and my mom said that I had to have coached him on that one, but we all know now that it is a REFLUX to gag when something is disgusting-such as peas.
Kelton learned how to use chopsticks in scouts this past week and had to eat a meal with them to pass off something towards his wolf. He can manuver those things way better than I can. Shad and I both think we would starve if we had to always eat with those, unless you can stab your food with it, they are useless.
We had parent teacher conferences this week and once again I am so proud Kelton. He is testing at a 4.1 reading level and doing great in math. Miss LeeMaster said that he is such a good, quiet kid and all the kids love him. I know he is a good kid, and I love him, but why in the world does he do ALL the things the teacher asks, but at home it takes at least 10 times before he follows any of my "advice"? I think I am way too lax on the punishment thing. I need to work on that.

de-junking, puke, new food, excema, eye bugers
Another round with Kelton about sleeping in his OWN bed. This time the excuse is the room is too baby. We spent a few hours this weekend cleaning out his room and getting rid of all the "baby stuff". We got 3 bags for DI, 2 for the garbage, and a bunch of stuff for grandma and grandpa Wall's house. We are putting in a different bed for him (so it's not a girly white headboard) and new blankets. It looks like a totally different room. When we are finished I will post a picture. I should have taken a before photo, but it would be too embarrassing.
Last year when Kelton was in first grade he had to go to the office because he was sick. He told his teacher he felt like he was going to throw up and she sent him to the office. He layed in the nurses station "for hours" and when it was recess time he got to leave. My son just told me about this a few weeks ago. So, I was happy that he expressed his sickness to me last Sunday night. I was just falling back to sleep after feeding Sam, when Kelton starting shaking my arm saying he was going to puke. Thank goodness he didn't, but was sick all day Monday feeling fluee. He stayed home from school on Monday and was feeling better Monday night. Tuesday morning he woke up and walked into the kitchen to get a drink and then took off around the corner to the bathroom and started banging on the door. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed the "popcorn/puke" bowl and he proceeded to puke his guts out in it. It was so gross. Obviously. He stayed home again from school Tuesday and went on Wed. There was no school on Friday, so he only had Wed. to do all his spelling homework for the test. I was the proudest mom of all time when he brought it home with 100%! It was a hard one! To top it off, he got student of the day 2 weeks ago. They pick 1 student of the school once a week and announce it over the intercom. He received some really nice comments, and some free kids meals. WAY TO GO KELTON!
Sam had his 4 month check up today and proudly weighs in at 14lbs. 2 oz. Exactly double his birth weight. He is now 25 1/2 inches long and falls right in the 50% mark. His head is a little smaller than the "norm", so the dr. will monitor that. I don't know what that is supposed to mean. Does that mean he is going to be slower? I thought he was supposed to get my brains since he looks like Shad so much. Just kidding Shad. I got the ok to give him cereal, fruits, and vegies, which is a good thing since i have already been giving him rice cereal. I tried for the first time with a spoon on Monday and he was attacking it. It was hilarious. This morning I noticed his eye was a little gooey, so the dr. appt. came at a good time. We have little eyedrops to give him the next few days, and also some cream for his excema on his forehead. It will be nice to have his head soft like a normal little baby and maybe I can start using the pink j&j lotion so he can smell all yummy. He has been drooling like mad lately and chewing on everything in sight. Maybe teething already?
I continue to work from home and only go to Sandy on Tuesdays. The last couple times up there I realize how much I miss the patients and being around adults. I love being a mom, but I never thought in a million years I would miss working with people. I feel like I am not accomplishing much being home all day. I was wondering what in the world I do at home, so I kept a log last week and I was pleasantly surprised how much I actually do. I know that sounds weird, but I needed to see that I was actually getting things done besides staring at a baby all day. Not that it isn't important, but you know what I mean. I found out that I spend about 5 hours in 12 feeding and staring, and playing. I am so thankful that I can be home and spend so much time with Sam. I love being able to pick up Kelton from school everyday and asking how his day was while I make an after school treat. I love being able to make dinner every night, and noticing that Shad needs more B.O juice before he tells me. Being able to do those little things have been so important to me, and I have wanted to do this all my life. I love my family, and I love being a wife and mom. I couldn't ask for anything more. (except for a bigger kitchen, a bed on the floor, a garage, and an 8 year old that will actually sleep in his bed.)

I am so excited mom and dad are going to be here more. For those of you who don't know, my dad has accepted a position with BYU. He is going to be working part time down here. The next few months will be hectic going back and forth, but hopefully by this summer it will settle down a bit. Mom and dad have rented a home in Mapleton and will be moving some of their things in next month. I don't know who is more happy about it, myself or Kelton. It will be so nice to have them close and to be more a part of what is happening down here in Utah. I know it isn't Washington, but I hope they can call this "home" too. After work today Sam and I spent a little time down at Ben and Brit's house. Eli was absolutley full of it. Blake doesn't stop eating, and Britney is constantly going, going, going. My cheeks hurt from giggling when I got home and thought about how much energy those boys have.

I am grateful for my little sunbeams. I am grateful for my little sunbeams. I am grateful for my little sunbeams. I keep hoping the more I say it the more it will come true. I got a new class the first of the year and I honestly don't know how I will survive the next few months until they get used to it. We have 3 sunbeam classes in our ward and my class is the youngest. Out of the 6 active kids 3 turned 3 in November and December. Needless to say, I will be taking a shower after church as well as before. I have been beat on by a kid named David, whose mother said he has an anger problem. I have been tooted on, buggers wiped on, peed on, and I have been pitting out the last two weeks. I would go into more detail, but don't want to bore you with it. All I can say is I am sure I will be "blessed" for my service.
Last night I attempted to give Sam some rice in the hopes that he would sleep longer. He isn't 4 months yet, but I figure it's close enough. He actually slept for a little over 6 hours! He did wake up about every hour and a half, but I just held him and stuck the binky in and he fell back to sleep. We were awake as often, but not as long. He woke up at about 4 and ate, then I tried to lay him back down and he got totally upset. Once I picked him up and started talking to him he started giggling and smiling. He was awake until 6 playing in his bouncer happy as a lark. (what is a lark anyway?) I hope after a few nights he won't wake up at all. I honestly don't know what I would do with myself if I got that much sleep all at once.
Kelton and Shad have been bonding lately. The other night we realized Kelton has never played checkers. Shad went and got a checkerboard and they have been playing nonstop ever since. It's funny how Shad shows no mercy to an 8 year old. They were really into playing football on the xbox before this checkers obsession, and Kelton kicks his rear every time. I guess Shad is happy to be beating him at something finally.

Boys
I love my boys. Last night I had to walk Kelton all the way across the street to scouts. It has been frigid here and it snowed a few inches Tuesday night. I waited to the last minute to make sure Shad wasn't going to come home to walk him over. Kelton didn't want to go and was crying that he wanted to stay home and play. At five minutes to, I decided to bundle Sam up and get over to the church. Kelton was crying and crying and I was getting frustrated because I didn't want to bundle Sam all up for 3 minutes, and I couldn't understand why Kelton was so upset. The second I put on the fluffy coat on Sam he started to giggle and giggle. It made Kelton and me giggle too and the walk over not so bad. When Sam and I got home I decided to put on his new hat he got for Christmas and see how it looked. I was crying from laughing so hard. He was hamming it up for me. Shad came in and I didn't even hear him since I was laughing so hard and trying to tickle him. Anyway, I thought that was funny.
Kelton is such an independent kid when it comes to certain things. Lately it has been his hair-do in the morning. He doesn't want my help except to put on the hairspray. Mind you, I haven't purchased hair spray since halloween 2005, so I don't even think it keeps it's hold. This morning I was wondering if it was mean to let him go to school the way it looked, but he was so proud of what he had accomplished I just couldn't say anything. He told me he looked like scrappy like it was a good thing. I took a picture...

It's 9 on Thursday morning, school started at 8:40 and Kelton is on the couch with Sam. He woke up this morning crying saying he didn't want to go to school today and proceeded to lock himself in the bathroom and yelled "I am NOT coming out!" What to do, what to do? I told him he is going and that is it...Then I realized he is sick. All sorts of sick. Needless to say this child doesn't tell me when he has a tummy ache until it is too late. I don't understand why he doesn't say he doesn't feel well if he doesn't feel good. He doesn't want to inconvenience anyone, he must get it from Shad.
The last week has really been uneventful. On New Years eve, Shad and I had the option of going to a friends house with adults only or staying home. We kept going back and forth on what to do, and when it came down to it we stayed home with Kelton and Sam. We were planning on our own little family New Years party with Kelton. We ended up in bed at 9:30...Sam ended up waking up at 11:30 so I got to catch the new year while Shad and Kelton were cutting z's. It was still fantastic to be together anyway.
Sam has come down with a nasty cold, but is still such a happy boy. He doesn't even care when I suck his nose out with the sucker thing. He just smiles and coos the whole time as the snot comes out. He is having a rough time sleeping since it's hard to breathe with the congestion, but he is happy while he's awake. I can't believe how much he has grown in the last couple weeks. He is now officially in 3-6 month tops, however two pair of the newborn pants still fit, and the 3-6 month bottoms are ridiculously too big. He obviously inherited the Wall legs.
