Day 4

On to San Diego.  Grandpa Wall had mentioned a cool air craft carrier we could go tour.  We decided to go there, then go to the beach for a while.  We arrived about 10:30, but thought a bite to eat beforehand would be smart.  How hard could it be to find a restaurant in San Diego? I wouldn't think too long.  We drove along the shore, but these were more expensive, not super kid friendly places.  We then drove around down town, but couldn't park anywhere. Up a steep hill we went looking for a main road, made a couple turns, and the next thing we saw were people sitting on their stoops, with their hats on crooked, looking at us like we were tourists or something. (crazy i know) Shad told Kelton to turn his hat sideways and nobody would know this ford truck with Utah plates didn't belong.   An hour and fifteen minutes later we found a Carl's Jr. just outside the "hood". A coin was needed to access the restroom, and of course Sam had to go #2.  By the time we made it back to the USS Midway it was 1 in the afternoon, and they closed at 5.  Plenty of time? NO!!! we didn't even get to see the whole thing!  It was incredible.  This air craft carrier/turned museum was unreal!
Here is their website http://www.midway.org/visitors
We all had head phones, although Sam wasn't allowed to have the actual recorder to listen to.  I loved the hospital and the dentist area the best.  They had bodies in there like they were really get worked on.  The brig was creepy, and the kitchens huge. Take some time to browse their website. Shad and Kelton loved it too. Sam, he was fine with checking out the planes, but not so much with all the  walking and stairs.  We stayed until they kicked  us out at 5.
In the brig

What a hunk

All of us on the flight deck

We headed to our hotel instead of the beach since it was getting  late and the boys were hungry. Time for dinner at one of the best hot dog/burger joints I've ever been too.  Bunz, man, I wish it was a chain.  SO SO  good.

This is what Sam did over and over and over. Cannon ball, then float....then sink.

oh a little side story

We saw this guy on a corner, and Kelton is still laughing about it.  He held his position forever. No blinking, no moving. It was kinda awesome for us sheltered people to see.
